SUMMER HOCKEY LEAGUE FESTIVAL
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE
1. DEFINITIONS
For the purposes of this document:
“The Event” refers to the Summer Hockey League
“The Tournament” refers to the hockey competition element of the Event
“The Organisers” refers to the appointed Event Lead and organising committee
“Participants” refers to all players, team members, officials, and volunteers
“Spectators” refers to all non-playing attendees
“Attendees” refers collectively to all Participants and Spectators
“The Venue” refers to the hockey pitch and all associated areas operated by a third-party venue provider
2. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By attending or participating in the Event, all Attendees:
- Agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions
- Agree to comply with all instructions issued by the Organisers, officials, and Venue staff
- Acknowledge that the Event is a social sporting environment requiring responsible conduct
The Organisers reserve the right to:
- Refuse entry
- Remove any Attendee
- Disqualify any team
at their sole discretion where reasonably necessary.
3. LEGAL APPLICATION AND PRECEDENCE
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Ireland.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit any rights or protections afforded under applicable law.
In the event of any conflict between these Terms and applicable law, the law shall take precedence.
4. ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION
4.1 Age Requirement
All Participants must be 18 years of age or older on the date of the Event.
4.2 General Eligibility
Participants must:
- Be registered in accordance with Event procedures
- Be physically fit and capable of participating
- Comply with all Event Rules and Match Regulations
Participation is subject to approval by the Organisers.
4.3 Disciplinary Status
A Participant shall not be eligible to participate if they are:
- Subject to any active ban, suspension, or disciplinary sanction imposed by:
- A hockey club
- A hockey league or competition
- A recognised governing body
Any breach may result in:
- Immediate removal from the Event
- Disqualification of the team
4.4 Previous Disciplinary History
Where a Participant has previously been subject to disciplinary action:
The Organisers reserve the right to determine eligibility, acting reasonably and proportionately, taking into account:
- Nature of the offence
- Time elapsed
- Risk to safety or Event integrity
4.5 Declaration and Accuracy
Participants may be required to declare:
- Current or previous disciplinary sanctions
All information must be:
- Accurate
- Complete
Failure to disclose may result in removal or disqualification.
4.6 Match Rules
All Participants must comply with the separate Match Rules Document.
5. SPECTATOR TERMS
5.1 General Conduct
Spectators must:
- Respect players, officials, and other attendees
- Follow all instructions issued by Organisers and Venue staff
5.2 Restrictions
Spectators must not:
- Enter the field of play without permission
- Interfere with matches
- Engage in abusive or disruptive behaviour
5.3 Removal
Spectators may be removed where reasonably necessary for:
- Safety concerns
- Intoxication
- Breach of these Terms
6. CODE OF CONDUCT
All Attendees must:
- Act respectfully and inclusively
- Avoid behaviour that:
- Endangers others
- Disrupts the Event
- Damages the Event’s reputation
6.1 Prohibited Conduct
Includes (but is not limited to):
- Verbal or physical abuse
- Harassment or discrimination
- Dangerous or reckless behaviour
- Excessive intoxication
6.2 Enforcement
The Organisers may:
- Issue warnings
- Remove individuals
- Disqualify teams
where reasonably necessary for safety and event integrity.
7. HEALTH AND SAFETY
7.1 Participation Risk
Participants acknowledge that hockey involves inherent physical risk.
Participation is undertaken at their own risk.
7.2 Medical Fitness
Participants confirm that they are:
- Medically fit to participate
- Not aware of any condition preventing safe involvement
Participants are responsible for seeking medical advice where appropriate prior to participation.
7.3 Equipment
Participants must comply with all safety requirements set out in the Match Rules.
7.4 First Aid
Basic first aid provision will be available.
This does not replace professional medical care.
All injuries must be reported immediately.
8. ALCOHOL AND VENUE REGULATIONS
8.1 Third-Party Venue
The Event is held at a venue operated by a third party.
All Attendees must:
- Comply with venue rules and policies
- Follow instructions from Venue staff
- Respect venue property
The Organisers are not responsible for the operation or safety compliance of the Venue.
8.2 Designated Areas
Attendees must remain within designated Event areas.
8.3 Alcohol Provision
Alcohol may be supplied by a licensed third-party provider.
The Organisers:
- Do not sell or supply alcohol
- Do not control service decisions
8.4 Alcohol Consumption
Attendees must:
- Consume alcohol responsibly
- Comply with all applicable laws
Participants must not consume alcohol prior to or during participation in matches.
8.5 Liability (Alcohol)
The Organisers accept no liability for incidents arising from alcohol consumption, except where required by law.
8.6 Behaviour and Removal
Attendees may be removed where reasonably necessary due to:
- Excessive intoxication
- Unsafe or disruptive behaviour
9. EVENT OPERATIONS
The Organisers may:
- Direct movement of attendees
- Adjust layout and access
- Modify the Event environment
where reasonably required.
10. EVENT SCHEDULE AND CHANGES
The Organisers reserve the right to:
- Adjust timings
- Modify format
- Shorten or extend activities
where reasonably necessary.
The Event is subject to a minimum number of participants.
The Organisers reserve the right to cancel the Event where sufficient participation is not achieved or where reasonably necessary for safety, operational, or other valid reasons.
In the event of cancellation, Participants will be offered:
- A full refund, or
- A transfer to a rescheduled Event (where applicable).
The Organisers will aim to provide notice of cancellation in advance where reasonably practicable.
The Organisers shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred by Participants, including travel or accommodation, except where required by law.
11. INSURANCE
The Event is covered by public liability insurance.
This does not provide personal accident cover for Participants.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own insurance if desired.
12. LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
The Organisers shall not be liable for:
- Loss, theft, or damage to personal property
- Injuries arising from participation in the Event
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. DATA PROTECTION AND MEDIA
Photography and video recording may take place during the Event.
By attending, Attendees:
- Consent to such recording for promotional and organisational purposes
The Organisers will process personal data in accordance with the
General Data Protection Regulation.
Attendees have the right to:
- Withdraw consent
- Request access to their data
- Request deletion where applicable
Requests may be made by contacting the Organisers prior to or after the Event.
14. FORCE MAJEURE
The Organisers shall not be liable for cancellation, delay, or modification due to circumstances beyond their control, including:
- Weather
- Venue issues
- Safety concerns
15. ORGANISERS’ AUTHORITY
The Organisers have authority over:
- The Event
- The Tournament
- All Attendees
Including the right to:
- Modify rules
- Adjust format
- Remove individuals or teams
where reasonably necessary.
17. AMENDMENT OF TERMS
The Organisers reserve the right to amend these Terms where reasonably necessary.
18. FINAL PROVISION
Participation in the Event is conditional upon compliance with these Terms.
Any individual who undermines the safety, integrity, or operation of the Event may be removed.
